(In preparation for the 100th anniversary celebration of Messiah in 2008, the anniversary committee will be presenting interesting tidbits from the past. This one is from January 1950.)

Watch Night was observed by the Messiah young people on New Year's Eve together with other youth of the City in Messiah Church. Miss Eleanor Danielson led the group in recreation beginning at 9:00 pm, and refreshments were served by the Messiah League. At 11:30 pm the group assembled in the sanctuary for a service using the theme, "Following Christ through the New year." The message was brought by Pastors W.H. Clark and Henry H. Murray. Miss Diana Langerman was organist, and Miss Charlene Bengtson sang "Star of the East." The meeting was led by Miss Betty Peterson. As the church bells rang out the old and rang in the new, silent prayers were observed. A large group of young folk were present and reported real satisfaction in this first joint meeting of Lindsborg Church Youth.
